La Battaglia di Algeri and Torture

I am thinking the release of the new DVD of The Battle of Algiers will generate interest in French colonialism. And this will mean reading lists for a new generation to help them understand the use of torture in Algiers or in the U.S. occupation of Iraq or about urban guerrilla warfare.
More good reading: A Diplomatic Revolution: Algeria's Fight for Independence and the Origins of the Post-Cold War Era. Matthew Connelly. New York: Oxford University Press, 2002.
