Hattie Wyatt Caraway-first woman U.S. senator

Hattie Ophelia Wyatt Caraway (1878-1950) was elected as the first woman to serve in the Senate--from Arkansas, 1931-1944 and seated January 12, 1932. Her papers are at the University of Arkansas.
